My Story
Assalamalaikum everyone, I'm Wabil Asjad, founder of Barakah Budgeting. I'm a proud Pakistani-American Muslim woman who grew up in New Jersey. I attended Wellesley College, where I studied Computer Science and Philosophy. Today, I work as a software engineer at a tech company in Washington.
Coming from an immigrant, low-income background, discussions about investing and wealth were never part of the conversation. As an adult, I've had to navigate and learn how to budget effectively, spend on the things and people I value, and plan for the future. The journey hasn't been easy—I've stumbled, faced challenges, and made costly mistakes along the way. But I've discovered the importance of financial literacy and the power it holds in shaping a secure and fulfilling life.
I founded Barakah Budgeting to help Muslim women embark on their own financial journeys. My goal is to ensure that everyone I work with starts this journey with the intention of making the most out of their wealth, not only financially but also from a spiritual perspective, with barakah. I believe it's essential for us to be part of the conversation about wealth and investing. I'm committed to sharing my journey, insights, and tools to empower you to take control of your financial future. Together, we can build a community of informed, confident, and financially savvy Muslim women.
